Allow me to introduce you to one of my favorite iPhone and iPad file management apps. It’s called Cloud Opener and what it does is exactly what Apple does not provide for iCloud Drive.
Cloud Opener opens up the files stored in your iCloud Drive account. Mac users have it easy. OS X puts iCloud Drive on the Desktop so it’s easy to browse files, add folders, delete files, open and view files.
Those same iCloud Drive files are not so easily viewed on iPhone or iPad. In most cases you’ll need a third party file manager, or the specific app that opens the files you want to view. Cloud Opener works like a Finder for iCloud Drive and lists all the files stored online.
Cloud Opener lets you view files of all kinds– Office, iWork, photos, music, movies– whatever you store on iCloud Drive. Folder management tools are built-in, too, including creating folders, duplicating, renaming, deleting, moving, zipping, printing, and copying.
Being a good iOS citizen Cloud Opening also has the standard built-in iOS sharing options, and can import or export files to other cloud services. The iPad version works much the same way, only with more screen real estate.
There’s much to like in Cloud Opener starting with the price tag. You’ll get change back from $2, and it’s the easiest way I’ve found to date to peruse files on my iCloud Drive account without opening an application first.
