As much as it pains me to admit this, my desk at home resembles my Mac’s Desktop. If you can’t see the desk itself because of the clutter, then you can’t see the Desktop wallpaper because of the clutter on the Mac.
My version of OCD seems to come in waves. Those items which should be ordered, neat, and presentable are neglected for a few days (or weeks) only to be cleaned up in a frantic blitzkrieg marathon tidy session. Here’s a Mac app that prevents both extremes.
It’s called Folder Tidy and it has one purpose in life. To make your OCD feel good. Conversely, if you don’t have OCD, then it just cleans up the Mac’s Desktop folder clutter.
Here’s the problem and the solution in a graphic. Cluttered files and folders become neat and organized.
Alright, fair enough. So, how do you get that tidy folder of formerly cluttered files and folders?
It’s a two-step, two-click process with Folder Tidy. Select the folder of files you want to organize. Choose where you want the files and folders to go. Click the Tidy button. Alright. Bad math. Three steps.
While that’s about as easy as tidy can get without having someone else perform the clicks for you, Folder Tidy has a few extra features which are beneficial for the OCD folk and the tidy-denied alike. For example, it’s easy to select which files you don’t want Folder Tidy to tidy. Files can be organized into folders and subfolders as you see fit. You can even tell Folder Tidy which types of files to organize and which to ignore.
If there’s an easier way to get your Mac’s files into a presentable, organized hierarchy then it requires an assistant. Nicely done, affordable, easy to use. Click Here if you need other tools to help you organize this or that on your Mac.
