Email messages from friends and family who also have entries in Contacts might have a corresponding photo, but by and large, sender photos in email messages are few and far between. Unless you want email messages with a little personality.
Fortunately for Mac users, there’s a free app for that.
In fact, Face2Face bills itself as ‘emails with personality‘ only in this case, you get to determine the sender’s personality with images you choose. Your mother-in-law? A bulldog image might suffice.
Walk through the steps in Face2Face and add images from Facebook, Google, Flickr, Gravatar profile, or add an image you think is more appropriate.
Face2Face doesn’t automatically use the photos in Contacts. In fact, it even comes with a database of its own faces (was going to write ‘facials‘ but the connotation means different things for different folks) in case you’re stumped about the image you need to associate with an ex, an old boss, or weird uncle Harry.
Actually, Face2Face uses its own database to store the facial images associated to an email address. Whatever image you can come up with works, too. That classmate that looks like a horse? Can do, Mr. Ed. There’s also a way to add a company logo which is a bit convoluted, though it works.
Otherwise, grab a photo or image that fits the face attached to the email sender, and it stays there in Mail forever and ever. And all of this visual joy is free with Face2Face, which is made by the same folks who create SendLater, a Mac Mail plugin that lets you send email later.
