Here’s a quick way to check documents for plagiarism by using a simple app on your Mac. It’s called Novus Scan and it’s available on the Mac App Store. What it does is rather simple. Take a document and save the contents in Novus Scan. Additional documents added to Novus Scan will be scanned for similar content and phrases.
Who needs this? Anyone who writes might find it useful, but especially teachers who deal with term papers, homework assignments, research material, and for editors and writers who want to ensure original material.
As the Novus Scan database of articles, research, term papers and documents grows, it become easier to find phrases that are reused or material that’s been repurposed.
The app will import standard documents including Microsoft Word, PDFs, and even HTML files.
