Fortunately, Apple helps us out a little with a boatload of features in the Mail app, and the Dock icon has a number badge which displays how many unread messages are in the inbox, but you still have to switch to Mail to see what’s there.
Enter Mail Menu, a free Mac Menubar utility which displays the number of unread messages and with a click, it displays the message subject and sender.
Click, and yee shall receive.
Feature-wise, there’s just not much going on in Mail Menu beyond the obvious. Click to view what’s unread in the inbox. Click to mark all the unread messages as read. Click to open Mail so you can view the rest of the message.
You can also reply to or delete messages without opening Mail. Hey, not bad for for free, right?
