Sure, Apple will sell us apps on the Mac App Store (and they get 30-percent of the take). But where’s the official OS X app uninstaller when we’re uninspired with a Mac app we’ve tried and can’t bear to try again?
Apple says, ‘No uninstaller for you!‘ Worse, apps installed on OS X put files hither and yon and other places of inaccessibility. What this world needs is a good 5-cent OS X uninstaller app.
All you have to do is drag an app from the Applications folder to the Trash.
AppTrap then looks around for all the associated support, preference, and other files that should be deleted, too. AppCleaner does much the same thing. Both are free.
The real question Mac users should be asking is simple. ‘Why doesn’t Apple have an official Installer app?‘ And, the follow up, which because there isn’t an official installer app, is, ‘Why doesn’t Apple have an official Uninstaller app?‘
Mr. Cook, inquiring minds want to know.
