Instead of running a full featured Mac task and project management app, I find I can get by quite well with judicious use of a simple egg timer.
In this case, it’s Minutes, an inexpensive Mac egg timer with multiple timers and in multiple colors. Don’t be put off with the term egg timer, either, because Minutes is much more than that.
Minutes counts down time, using any one of four different color combos (so you can quickly identify what’s being timed), and put as many timers on the screen as you need.
Open Minutes, setup a timer like an egg timer by just turning the triangle knob, and set a timing for anywhere from a minute to up to six hours. At the end of the countdown Minutes will sound an alarm (which can be repeated), or play a song from iTunes.
That’s it. Don’t use Minutes as a task manager or project management app. It’s just a timer, but it’s elegant, simple, useful, and just sits there and works.
