My Mac has a number of timer and countdown apps, too, including one that borders on expensive but what it does makes it a worthwhile addition, especially if you use one of a number of popular todo or task apps. This one is called Eggscellent, and it looks like both an egg and a timer.
When Eggscellent reaches a set time, it hatches. Seriously. The timer hatches into a nest with a baby chick inside. More on that in a moment.
The timer component is simple and gives you options for multiple timer actions, but that’s not the only real value. Eggscellent works with Apple’s Reminders app, as well as the popular task managers OmniFocus and Things.
It also handles your social networking needs with status updates to Messages, Skype, and Adium, and you can add custom sounds to the alarms.
Now, about that timer hatching feature.
The animation is great. Any timer will hatch when the set time arrives. Cute, clever, functional.
