Just as I offered a thank you and a free trip to Starbucks to a colleague who turned me on to PhotoSketcher, I suspect you’ll do the same thing.
Except maybe for the coffee (though coupons would do nicely). PhotoSketcher is the Mac app that turns photos into sketches of art that appear hand drawn. Not only is it good at taking great photos and turning them into great art, PhotoSketcher also turns humdrum photos into art that’s better than the original photo.
Here’s an example of a good photo which became great art.
Now, how do you get a photo to become a sketch? It’s actually rather straightforward. Point and click the tools and settings to adjust the line width, background, and textures.
Sketches are rendered on-the-fly so you can instantly what effect adjustments have on the original. You can set pen color and background color or colorize the image from the original colors.
And, PhotoSketcher works on a photo in the original resolution and saves files in JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and GIF file formats.
Magical? Yeah, pretty much.
PhotoSketcher breathes new life into what would normally be mundane photos that may never get shared. It gets high ratings from users because it’s a good value. Compare the price to a cup of coffee.
