Internet radio is everywhere and more diverse than ever. Yet, Pandora remains one of the more popular online music services.
Pandora on my iPhone gets limited use because of bandwidth constraints. But Pandora on my Mac is running regularly with Muse, one of the best Pandora radio players yet to hit the Mac App Store. This is a full-fledged app which does the basics of Pandora and then some.
Muse setup is straightforward. Just add your Pandora account information and choose what you want to hear. The familiar Like and Dislike buttons are embedded into the audio controls in browser-like window fashion.
Use the Apple Remote, keyboard Media keys, or keyboard shortcuts to control Muse beyond point and click. Close the Muse app window and Pandora continues to play in the background.
Muse works with Growl notification but not OS X’s new Notification Center. It also works with Last.FM and you can set it up with free Pandora or your account.
There’s not much to not like. The price is nominal, ease of use is excellent, but for some reason the AirPlay component was removed from the Mac App Store version of Muse. That’s too bad, but not a deal breaker.
