Safari’s bookmarks manager is decent but could use a few additional features.
For example, there’s no way to remove duplicate bookmarks. There’s no easy way to find and rename bookmarks with the same name. And, there’s no way to sort bookmarks alphabetically. That changes with Bookmark Sorter and SafariSort, two elegant Mac apps which sort bookmarks within Safari.
First, the good news. SafariSort is free. With one click, all the bookmarks you’ve saved in Safari can be sorted alphabetically, including putting folders of bookmarks on top of individual bookmarks.
Next, the bad news. Despite the no price tag of SafariSort, that’s about all it does.
There’s more good news and bad news.
First, the good news. Bookmark Sorter also sorts Safari’s bookmarks in alphabetical order, then places bookmark folders at the top of the bookmark list, and gives you options to remove duplicate bookmarks, and rename bookmarks that have the same name.
And, it keeps bookmarks sorted according to Preferences.
Now, the bad news. Bookmark Sorter has a price tag. It’s not much, especially if you struggle with bookmark management, but the good news is that there’s a trial-before-you-buy option.
Both apps doe a good jobs of simply sorting bookmarks, though the extra functions in Bookmark Sorter make it worth a few dollars.
