Buried deep into my bucket list is a desire to write a book. I don’t know yet what I’d write about, but I want to. I have almost all the basics to be an author.
Yep. I have a Mac. I have four or five word processors. I have a camera so I can take photos and drop them into my document.
Apple just gave the world a way to self-publish books with iBooks Author. Whatever your creation entails– text, photos, animation, movies, audio– your book can be sold on Apple’s iBook Store.
You become the writer and publisher and designer.
Add the very inexpensive Book Palette templates for iBooks Author, and your publication will look professionally designed.
It used to be that a writer wrote. An editor would edit. A publisher would hire someone to do the artwork and cover design.
If you were lucky, someone would buy the book, write a review about it, and others would buy the book based on the reviews.
Today, you, the writer, can do everything yourself. Including the finished publication.
In other words, there’s a template for you to follow to do everything except the writing.
Book Palette gives you book cover and layout designs. iBooks Author lets you put your book together in a publishable format. iBook Store can sell it.
All you need to do is find something to write about. So far, that’s even deeper into my bucket list than the desire to write a book.
