Forget iPhoto Photo Enhancements. Get Even Better Portraits With A Click

Perfect365If you’ve been around the Mac web for a few years you’ve probably seen more than your fair share of advertisements for photo enhancement apps. They’re everywhere.

Some of them are cleverly designed and take ordinary photos and turn them into Photoshop-like photos with just a few clicks. The only problem I’ve had with the two or three I’ve downloaded and tried out is the price tag. Some of the more popular photo enhancements apps are more than $100.

Still, one click enhancements are a good draw for those of us who can spell Photoshop but don’t want to take a four semester class at a local university to figure out how to use it.

Enter Perfect365. This is mostly a one-click photo editing, enhancement, and makeover app for the Mac. Instead of rummaging through palettes and menu selections ad nauseam, Perfect365 takes portrait photos and improves them.

One click? Sometimes. But the magic is impressive. Perfect365 retouches photos by scanning the face and head and matching the photo to nearly two dozen pre-set makeup styles.

Not bad, right?

Perfect365 also comes with 20 customization tools to assist the 21 preset makeup styles. These are automatically applied to enhance skin, face, eyes, and mouth.

One click? Nah, not really. There are plenty of tools and settings so you still remain in control, but the learning curve is far less than Photoshop.

The app is smart enough to adjust crooked faces, crooked smiles, or off center profiles. Little point areas around eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth make it easy to make your portrait look better than real life.

A few social sharing options are included– Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and email. Finished photos can be sent back to iPhoto for storage.

Clearly Perfect365 is powerful, but from time to time it can’t figure out a face. Maybe it’s the lighting or the skin tone, or perhaps my husband’s relatives are not recognizable as humans.
