The Amazing Jonathan

Thanks to Apple’s iTunes Music Store, I found Jonathan. Again. I’m an early adopter and adopted the iTunes Music Store as soon as it opened. Now it’s music, music videos, movie shorts, TV shows, and The Amazing Jonathan. Where has he been?

I didn’t do well in the VCR years. TV shows would come and go and once in awhile I would record a show to watch later.

VCR tapes were just a pain to deal with. Today, there’s the digital video recorder; the DVR. I can record TV from an on screen schedule and store up to 80 hours for future viewing.

The iTunes Music Store goes another step. For $1.99 I can purchase TV shows (it won’t be long before movies are available), download them to my Mac (or iPod with video), and keep them as long as I want.

That’s where I found The Amazing Jonathan. Again.

No Las Vegas comedian magician captivates as much as Jonathan. Part slap stick 3 Stooges, part stand up comic, Jonathan stretches propriety enough so you see the edges, then releases his rubber band timing in the other direction.

I bought The Amazing Jonathan video from iTunes and laughed until I cried. Then watched it again.

Jonathan is also on the web and I found a few of his choice jokes. There’s two classes. The ones below, and the ones that will get you thrown into jail if you’re caught with them on your computer.

Man: “I was fired from the Orange Juice Plant last week.”
Friend: Why?
Man: “I couldn’t concentrate.”

In Arkansas, if you divorce our wife, is she still your sister?

Q: “How do you make a Kentucky woman feel good about herself?”
A: “Compliment her on her tooth.”

A man rushes into his house and yells to his wife, “Baby, pack up your things!  I just won the  lottery!”  She replies, “Shall I pack for warm weather or cold?”  The man responds, “I don’t care.  Just so long as you’re out of the house by noon!”

And, my favorite, dedicated to my friend, Barbara Marie Hambi in Las Vegas.

A blonde was hard up for money, so she walked around her neighborhood, trying to find a job. She met a nice man who said he would give her work. All she had to do was paint his porch white. He gave her a bucket of paint and left. He walked into his house, laughing. He told his brunette wife what he had done. “Frank, our porch covers half of the house! You’re so mean.” his wife replied. Three hours later, the blonde went in the house, and gave the bucket of white paint back to the man. The astonished man handed her a $100 bill, and asked how she finished it so quickly. “It takes time, but it was easy.” was her reply. “Oh, and it’s a Ferrari, not a Porsche.”

Bambi invited me to Las Vegas late this spring so we plan to see The Amazing Jonathan in person.

  1. Is Peggy Wiggins (Psychic Tanya) still with him?… I heard that there was a rather nasty mixup a couple years ago regarding the staple gun. I will have to look for her on his iTunes video.

Thanks to the iTunes Store, I discovered minimalist electronic music. I’d never heard of it before, in spite of the fact that 2 of my sons are cutting-edge music DJ types, into ‘techno’ and the like.

This stuff is WAY out there, well beyond techno. It’s like sound effects without the video, not conventional music at all. I find some of it very soothing, meditative, some of it annoying. It’s very random, if not chaotic in structure. I think the only rules that apply are that there are no rules.

The iTunes store had an announcement for someone named Meelkop. The name seemed unusual, so I clicked the link and listened to the samples. I then went surfing and found more of Meelkop’s material, some of which I downloaded for free from a generous website. The more I read and searched, the more I found. My favorite site for this is http://www.con-v.org/about.htm

Unless you’re tragically hip, you’ve probably never heard this kind of thing passed off as music before. Or maybe it’s just me. It seems I’m always the last one to know.

I’ve not heard of the Amazing Jonathan, either, but thanks for the heads up. Sounds like fun.

    No picking on Bambi, hear?
